INNOVATING FOR THE STEM RACING COMPETITIONENGINEERING / AERODYNAMICS / TEAMWORK

We’re secondary school students with a shared interest in engineering, design and motorsport.

Velox Racing 2026 brings performance and creativity into the STEM Racing challenge, formerly known as F1 in Schools. Our aim is to keep improving the car and the work around it, from its engineering to the way we present the team.

About STEM Racing UK

Velox Racing 2026

Our 2026 team identity. The earlier Callisto Racing name remains in our historical photographs and race diary.

One team, connected roles

Design, manufacture, marketing and project management all contribute to the car and the work we present.

Design. Build. Race.

A shared ambition to develop our engineering skills and explain the thinking behind our work.

02 / OUR MISSION

Small car.
Big engineering challenge.

Our mission is to design, manufacture and race a miniature car in STEM Racing. Powered by a compressed CO₂ cartridge, it sprints along a 20-metre straight track. We bring engineering and visual design together, working towards a car that performs on the track and a clear explanation of the work behind it.

More than the sprint.

Engineering and enterprise portfolios, the team display and presentations also contribute to assessment. Requirements vary by class and season.

03 / OUR STRATEGY

Every part works together.

Design choices. Manufacturing choices.
And the people who connect them.

01 / DESIGN

Innovation in design

Our design work uses CAD to develop the car’s shape and components within the competition’s technical rules. Aerodynamic analysis helps teams investigate performance.

02 / MANUFACTURE

Precision manufacturing

Manufacturing brings the CAD design into a physical car. Material choices, dimensions and tolerances need to work together within the technical rules.

03 / MATERIALS

Sustainable practices

We aim to use environmentally considerate materials and reduce waste throughout the process.

04 / COMMUNITY

Community engagement

Sponsor partnerships and sharing STEM learning help our project reach beyond the team.

04 / MEET THE TEAM

Six people. One starting line.

Different responsibilities.
A collective effort.

06 / COMMUNICATION

The work between race days.

Keeping each other—and our sponsors—
connected to the project.

Clear communication helps us solve problems together. We share progress, keep documents accessible and make space for regular conversations.

Microsoft Teams logo

Team page

A shared page gives us a place for ideas, progress updates and important documents, so everyone can see how the project is moving forward.

Weekly meetings

We meet each week to discuss progress and work through difficulties. Meeting face to face also helps us support one another across different parts of the competition.

Telephone communication icon

Urgent messages

When a decision cannot wait until our next meeting, we call each other to work through the problem and agree what to do.

07 / SPONSORSHIPS

Support that gets us to the start.

Our sponsors.
Part of the journey.

Sponsorship helps cover the practical costs of competing: team clothing, transport, entry fees and materials. It gives us more opportunities to develop the project and represent the team together.

Our relationships work both ways. We promote our sponsors through our Instagram and their logos on the car and team clothing.

08 / OUR SCHOOL

Cheltenham Ladies’ College.

Our school is the setting for the team’s engineering work and wider motorsport experiences.
